What to do if someone reports their vehicle was towed
If someone asks you or your team why their vehicle was towed, here's how to get them the information they need.
Towing is an important part of maintaining smooth operations of a parking facility and is expected by your residents. Unfortunately, even when rules are clearly stated, you will have rule-breakers.
When vehicles are towed as a result of violations, Parkade helps ensure your team has the information they need when vehicle owners ask why they were towed.
Find the problem report
You can use the Problems section of the Web Dashboard to find any problem report that was made about their vehicle.
In the Parkade Web Dashboard, go to the Problems section.
Look at the list of recent report, or search for the vehicle owner's name or license plate number to find the report that was made about them.
Click on the problem report's Reported At date/time to see more details. This lets you see who had a reservation in the spot the towed vehicle was in.
What to tell the towed resident
Tell them their vehicle was parked in an unauthorized location. Feel free to explain what spot they were reported in and that they did not have a reservation for that spot at the time.
Tell them their vehicle was towed since it was reported parked in an unauthorized spot.
We recommend not sharing who reported the vehicle (especially if it was another resident), since that can cause inter-resident problems.
How to minimize towing
Make sure you have clear, accessible, and understandable directions for parking.
Signage provided by tow companies and required by law will often just state "unauthorized vehicles will be towed" without any guidance about what "authorized" vehicles are.
